Our Story

Inspired by combining the Greek word denoting knowledge with technology, the name Gnostech emphasizes our company’s approach to deliver responsive service, technical excellence, and innovative solutions to our customers.  We have a proven record of service and success, bolstered by the fact that our first customer is still with us to date.

Founded in 1981, Gnostech began as a GPS-applied engineering company in Warminster, PA. With an emphasis on GPS simulations and software, our first contract was to provide GPS development support for the U.S. Navy, in addition to designing and fabricating specialized monitoring and measurement instrumentation for their commercial manufacturing sector. Since then, we have become a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with over 70 employees. We continue to work with the Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the maritime industry.

Technical Staff

Our employees are the driving force behind Gnostech, who strive to develop secure, technically advanced engineering solutions based on our customers’ missions and requirements. Gnostech’s team is varied in its professional background, education, and areas of expertise in addition to the decades’ worth of experience our program managers and senior staff utilize. 100% of our technical staff have security clearances with additional training certifications, and we ensure that our staff fully meets DoD Cyber security Workforce requirements.


James Espino, President

James Espino is President of Gnostech, LLC.  James previously served as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard for over 20 years.  His previous duties included tours aboard U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and foreign navy vessels, Officer in Charge of a drug interdiction and maritime intercept operations team, and director of the office responsible for tactical communications and sensor systems. He also served in acquisition and mission support positions during his career.

James holds a B.S. in Math/Computer Science from the Coast Guard Academy, a M.S. in Information Technology Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, and MBA from Drexel University.  He is a board member of CustomEd and The Maritime Alliance.

Sarah Carter, Vice President

Sarah Carter serves as Vice President of Gnostech, LLC.  Her tenure with Gnostech began in 2012, and she has filled program manager and engineering responsibilities supporting systems engineering and cyber security programs. She previously worked with GDIT supporting Navy and Coast Guard C4ISR system integration programs. Notably, she spearheaded the first of class weapons and combat system certification for the U.S. Coast Guard National Security Cutter.

Sarah served in the U.S. Coast Guard active duty for five years. She holds a B.S. in Government from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and a M.S. in Quality Systems Management from the National Graduate School.

James Roe, Director of Business Development

James Roe serves as the Director of Business Development of Gnostech, LLC, focused primarily on the defense market.  James has supported various program offices at SPAWAR/PEO C4I including PMW 770 – Submarine Integration program office, PMW 790 – Shore and Expeditionary Integration program office, and PMW 160 – Networks, Information Assurance, and Enterprise Services program office. In addition to his commercial contracts experience with Zodiac Aerospace, he previously worked at Engility, Client Solution Architects, Booz Allen Hamilton, SWRMC San Diego, and is a Submarine Veteran.

James holds a M.A. in Management and a B.S. in Business Administration.  He is also certified as a Project Management Professional and DAWIA Level II certified in Contracts.
