James Espino is President of Gnostech Inc. Prior to joining the company, James served as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard for over 20 years. His final Coast Guard assignment was Commanding Officer of Military Personnel and Chief of Logistics for Coast Guard Sector New York, leading the Command’s preparation for and response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. Prior to this, James was the Director for the Coast Guard’s C5ISR Acquisition Project Office in Moorestown, NJ where he was responsible for executing Coast Guard’s C4ISR procurement strategy.
James’ previous duties included tours aboard U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and foreign navy vessels, Officer in Charge of a drug interdiction and maritime intercept operations team, and director of the office responsible for tactical communications and sensor systems. He has deployed to shore and maritime locations in the Middle East as part of the UN Embargo operations after the first Gulf War, Southeast Asia and Latin America to conduct counter-narcotics operations, and the Arctic Region.
James holds a Bachelor of Science in Math/Computer Science from the Coast Guard Academy, a Master of Science in Information Technology Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, and his MBA from Drexel University. Additionally, he serves on the CustomEd Board of Directors and the Board of The Maritime Alliance.
Sarah Carter serves as Vice President of Gnostech Inc. Her tenure with Gnostech began in 2012, and she has filled program manager and engineering responsibilities supporting systems engineering and cyber security programs. Prior to Sarah’s roles with Gnostech, she worked with GDIT supporting Navy and Coast Guard C4ISR system integration programs specializing in program management, combat systems integration, weapon systems and system safety engineering. Notably, she spearheaded the first of class weapons and combat system certification for the U.S. Coast Guard National Security Cutter. Her efforts continue to serve as the foundation for the certification of the National Security class of cutters.
Sarah served in the U.S. Coast Guard aboard a Medium Endurance Cutter where she participated in myriad of missions including: maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, counter-drug and alien migrant interdiction operations. Additionally, Sarah served on the Coast Guard’s First District staff and as the District Commander’s Aide-de-Camp.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Government from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and a Master of Science in Quality Systems Management from the National Graduate School.
